Anyone else think cooking for a toddler is a waste of time?

Today my 15mo DS has poked a banana pancake, looked at some
toast, had one bite of tortilla wrap, licked a slice of avocado, and sniffed some refried beans.

We did have a win at lunchtime where he ate 4 oven chips.

Lighthearted as I know it’s normal and not a waste of time but it’s getting frustrating that he is turning his nose up more often than not and he had been an enthusiastic eater since starting solids.

The floor thing drove me mad too until I realised the high chair had wheels on it and I could use my foot to instantly push it backwards out of food range.
Then any undesirable behaviour at the table eg food on the floor or pulling up the table cloth he would be 2 feet away from the table for the next 20 seconds.
On the flip side we got those plastic trays and said anything you don't want stays on the tray. Also perfect for containing most spillages. And keeping the boundary between toddler stuff and table stuff.
Good luck,

Mine also eats really well at nursery and apparently eats things that get rejected at home 😔

I have three DC, all really good eaters, and they all went through a fussy stage around this age! So I think it's a normal developmental thing.

Some times I just chuck the food on the floor myself. Cuts out the middle man.

😂

Still having this battle and my kid is 3 next week! Sometimes a few oven chips or bites of peanut butter on toast is a win, and you're still so early on in your weaning journey. Don't stress about making separate "instagram worthy" meals and just give your little one some of what you're having, it will definitely save your sanity!

Your post will lift my daughters heart . Granddaughter three last week who lives on bloody marmite toast ! Anything extra is a win 🤦‍♀️She will eat fruit and carrots but so hard to get carbs into her !
Daughter was tricky with food when she was a toddler as well.

My 1 year old drives me mad with throwing everything on the floor.
One day he loves something like pasta, the next day he won't touch it.

I feel like I end up offering him so many option but he won't eat any of it.

He's been poorly lately so I think that hasn't helped

I quickly stopped making seperate meals!

Look at it this way - the constant exposure really IS helping in the long run
