10 month old nursing

So we were all struck down with a d&v bug over the last 5 days starting with 10 month old dd on Saturday and Sunday. On the days she was poorly she just nursed for food all day - she was off her food and vomiting a lot so I just went with it.

Since then I have been trying to get her to move back in to solids but she is really resistant and spitting the food out and then just wanting to breastfeed for food instead.

I need to get her back to where we were before she was sick as she starting her settling in sessions at nursery on Monday as I go back to work after Christmas and it's a bit of a nightmare - she won't take a bottle (believe me I have tried) and I was relying on the fact that she was a good eater to be ok without breastfeeding during the day and cutting down to morning and night feeds.

What am I going to do if she doesn't start eating properly again soon???

She will. She just needs a little bit longer to recover.

Just keep offering food but don't force it. She's not feeling good and eating requires lots of concentration and motor skills. She'll get back to where she was eventually

I had this a few months ago, I found offering super nice novelty foods like icecream and giving her super puréed foods etc helped. Also if there was a specific food that she vomited up she might be avoiding that (she's only just started tolerating tomato pasta again as she had just eaten that before she got sick and I think she associated)

She will eat when your not around, though you could always pull out a few of her favourite foods to tempt her.

She’s unwell so of course naturally she wants to nurse over proper food. I wouldn’t worry about getting her back to normal while she’s not well as it’s just going to cause extra stress. Wait until she’s better.

Thanks all. I will give her time and try not to worry. And drop down a stage to smoother foods amd finger foods.
