So my toodler since yesterday has a hoarse voice, however he’s not coughing or showing any other symptoms. He’s eating well playing etc. do I need to be worried? He does scream a lot so not sure if it’s due to that. He’s not been out much anyway and doesn’t of to nursery just went out in the snow on Sunday for 5-10 mins so not sure if that caused it somehow?

with this strep A going around I am just very anxious with his health.

Er, it sounds like a mild cold. Toddlers get them. Their natural state is snotty from October to May.

In the absence of more serious symptoms, there's nothing to worry about or to do.

@astronewt I was thinking the same but with strep going around it’s just scary..

Your child will likely get strep a infections throughout childhood and you'll have no idea it's "strep a" - it's often the cause of tonsillitis. Try not to worry. The chances of your toddler getting an invasive group a strep infection are vanishingly small

My 9 year old son has this strangely. He can articulate better than a toddler and says it feels like he has something heavy on his chest. No temp, snot or cough but has a croaky voice. For what it's worth I kept him off school. It's a new one for me! Maybe just exhausted

keep an eye on him. My daughter had this earlier this year (she’s 6). We were actually laughing at her lack of voice because she’s normally so loud and she felt fine and was playing, running around, went to gymnastics, ate tea etc. then she started to have issues breathing and said it felt like there was something blocking her throat. Had to go to a and E and she was admitted to children’s ward with bacterial laryngitis. She was fine but was there overnight needing nebuliser and steroids and we came home with antibiotics. So just keep an eye and any breathing issues I would call the dr.

I will try and get a GP appointment if I can to make sure he’s okay. I have really bad anxiety when it comes to my child so I am always worrying 😩😩 will definitely get him checked just to make sure

This is the problem when the media cause mass hysteria

to put it kindly OP your child has a hoarse voice. What would you have done before the tv told you everyone was going to catch strep? You’d just put it down as a little sore throat and kept an eye on them - so that’s exactly what you do now.

My son had a hoarse voice and it turned out to be related to something to do with his regular throwing up. He ended up on gastric medication for ages, and under review. I'd keep an eye and see if any other 'harmless' but weird symptoms crop up.

OP your DS will get strep A numerous times in his life, and possible already has. It’s always going around at this time of year. He has a hoarse voice and that’s it. Keep an eye on him for other symptoms but otherwise just get on with it like you would for any mild cold.
