Seeking advice from bath-less parents!

We have a big shower, no proper adult sized bath. My baby is 16 weeks and growing like a weed, he currently fits in his plastic baby bath and will for a while thankfully. I’m thinking ahead to the In-between stage when he’s a bit too big for the baby bath but not big enough for a shower. Could any experienced parents without a proper bath in their home advise me what they have done to solve this problem?

We have a shnuggle toddler bath. 16 month old dd (small) looks teeny in it, will do her for years I reckon. We haven’t had her in the shower yet as it’s tiny and I don’t know how we will manage it 😂 the only pain is storing it.

Paddling pool in the shower tray :-)

We had just a shower for a while which was big enough for a bath seat. So we let the shower go over his feet so he could have a play and used a cup filled from the shower to wash him properly. It was one of those waterfall showerheads that couldn't be moved, would have been much easier with a detachable head!

I just used to have a shower with my DS so we'd both be showering together, it was fun 😀

My daughter refused to get on the bath from ages 1 to 2 after she did a poo in it. I used to fill a plastic drawer with warm water and she would stand in it and I would wash her.

I had the shnuggle bath and then got a seat like this (not exact one) for when they could sit and now they stand in the shower.

I use a plastic laundry tub from IKEA for my 3.5 year old. She is average height and I think she will still be ok in it for another year or so.

My daughter used her baby bath until she was 5!! She's not even small for her age 🤣 she just refused showers. We did use a shower head to wash hair, but it was always a drama

The kitchen sink!

DNAshelicase · 14/12/2022 11:38

Wonderful suggestions, thank you mumsnet! It’s a big shower so could fit a tray/seat and the shower head is detachable, we also have a garage so we could store a toddler bath. I did briefly entertain the idea of showering with him but I fear I’d either get pooped on or I’d drop the wriggly beggar 😅

Kitchen sink! We also had a blow up bath which I think was from tesco. We'd put that in the shower tray once she could sit unaided

I used this collapsible baby bath from amazon with the newborn float insert until he could sit up. After that I stopped using the insert and got the angelcare bath seat which fits inside the collapsible bathtub. And now at 12 months he just sits in the bathtub by himself.

Stokke XL Flexi bath. Quite pricey but you might find one second hand. And worth it IMO as it's spacious for little ones but can fold for storage.

ToddleToddleToddle · 15/12/2022 07:33

A bigger baby bath

Endlesslaundry123 · 15/12/2022 08:44

Another vote for the Shnuggle...baby size til ~1 and then toddler size. My 3 year old still uses it almost daily, and she occasionally also likes to take a shower instead to be like mummy and daddy haha.

Fuckingfuckssake · 15/12/2022 08:47

We used Trug Tubs or the generic equivalents, they got bigger and bigger till she'd shower with us and now alone, the tubs are now scattered about the place and have been repurposed for all sorts of things.

Inflatable 3 ring paddling pool here. I keep it inflated and store it on top of the shower when he's not using it. He's now 4 and loves a bath. The pool is big enough for him to lie down and play. I'm quite jealous to be honest!

He did go through a phase of sitting in the shower floor playing with tubs of water, but he's all about the pool at the moment.
