Aptimal Pepti

Hi
I was given this by the dr last night. He sent a ref to a dietician for my DD as she has had loose bowels since she was born. Had eczema which cleared with creams and no other symptoms of possible allergy but because of the loose bowels, we started her on this
problem is, she is hating it. I know it might take a while for her to accept the change, but any idea how long? Also, has he done the right thing in giving me this for her? She hasn’t had a bowel movement just yet. I feel like if she’s going to continue to be loose then to just put her back on original milk.

Meant to add that she is a very content and happy baby. It’s just her loose bowels they thought possible allergy and changed milk.
thanks

DD1 was on aptamil pepti 1 and I definitely saw an improvement in her bowels. Much thicker than the looser stools she was having before.

If her stools remain loose after a couple of weeks it could be something other than allergy. I would talk to GP if the loose stools persist.

I'm surprised your GP prescribed it so quickly. DD2 has loose stools along with other CMPA symptoms and they're being very hesitant about an allergy. They've even taken her stool sample to rule out an infection before they consider allergy.

Hi, my daughters were put on Pepti Formula for suspected cow milk allergy and reflux. Both felt better. Good luck to your little one.

Hi All,
looking for some advice, FTM, so bear with me.

My daughter is 12 weeks old and is a happy and content baby, who sleeps really well. She has always just pooped 1/4 days (confirmed by doctor all was ok, was just her rhythm).

The last ten days, she’s been sicky (sticky like substance) after a bottle and has really bad nappies (leaking out every direction), 3/4 times a day.

i called the doctor for some advice and they have put us on Aptimal Pepti 1, thinking she could have a lactose issue.

I thought it was more reflux, but doctor said she wouldn’t get that at 3 months.

I am hesitant to change her milk, as I’ve read it can make symptoms worse before better, and I don’t want to put her in any discomfort when she isn’t in any to start with, just want to be able to sort the sickness and diarrhoea?

can an intolerance just start after 12 weeks? Can reflux start after 12 weeks?

thanks in advance.

Hey @Rhia1992

I just found this thread searching for other mums in the same boat. I see it's old but would be interested to know your update!

My son is 5 weeks old, always had frequent poops and wet - normal for him. He always had bad nappy rash sores too unfortunately, but we've been told it's from the amount of poops and it actually being abnormal!

He was on Kendamil and breast milk. We've been in a&e this morning as symptoms point towards a cows milk protein intolerance - colic, straining, rumbling tummy, grunting during and after feed, watery poop, sores on bum which won't go away despite creams etc. etc.

In answer to your question, yes. Intolerance can come later with a delayed response and tend to go away in infants meaning you can reintroduce diary in their diet (with guidance from HV or GP).

My issue now is my son HATES the taste of the Aptimal Peptide! He cries, spits out etc.

We are now going to get reviewed in a few weeks to see how he gets on.

Anyone else?
