What is the most difficult part?

"What is the most difficult thing about being a mum of a baby?" As I sat with my neighbour's baby on my lap, I was surprised to hear the quick fire of answers -"Tiredness. Loneliness. Not knowing how to help my baby reach the developmental stages everyone talks about." Her ill health keeps her home a lot, too, which makes things even more difficult. What do other mums struggle with? What online baby groups/online music groups etc I could suggest for her to join?

For me I think it's just never knowing if what you're doing is right because baby can't tell you.

I think things like tiredness and loneliness are hard too but I was expecting those things more before baby, but I never thought there'd be so much winging it when he was here, so that's been the hardest part to adjust to for me.

I liked Sing and Sign - they offer online only options. It's great for learning songs and baby sign language that helps pre-verbal babies communicate.... my daughter loved it, she learnt so much vocabulary and now speaks very well (she's now 3).

I know what you mean! Constant guessing and often no one around to ask. Hope you are managing well. x

I think the hardest thing is having your wishes and plans thwarted EVERY TWO MINUTES. A saintly amount of patience and flexibility is required. So basically anything that gets mums breaks and a little bit of time where they can be the master of their own destiny, will top up her tank a bit and help her be ready to deal with the next challenge.

I've a near 3mo and the hardest part is definitely the constant calculations I do in my mind, every moment I'm awake, to have a plan A, B and C as baby's needs/wants change without warning.

Second hardest part is that I still shit, piss, eat and sleep, and just about breathe, on someone else's completely unpredictable schedule. Around the clock.

If mum can't get out, can she open windows once a day (granted it's blooming cold at the moment, but just a few minutes might do) to let some daylight and fresh air in. In the absence of a magic wand for time/ability to get out the house, fresh air and daylight through an open window will likely help her and baby.
