I started the week DD turned 6 months, with vegetable purées (one vegetable at a time),
just a few spoonfuls at lunchtime. I also gave her a piece of well-steamed vegetable but she wasn’t so interested in that. I did that for two weeks, first trying something different each day then mixing flavours. I made purées and froze them and used pouches as well.

I found the nhs weaning website really good and I started at 6 months xx

Baby Led Weaning!!! Started when my DC1 was 6m & 2w old (when DC1 could sit comfortably in the high chair without flopping). Just gave whatever we were eating but cut appropriately, so easy and manageable to do. Recommend reading Gill Rapley's book.

If you haven't already, do a paediatric first aid course too, whichever weaning approach you choose. Just in case!

BLW. Started both at 6 months. DS1 didn't go for solids as quickly but was on 3 meals a day around 9 months. Was a lot more confident second time and DS2 was very keen. He was on 3 meals by around 7 months. He's a pit though! I just included them in meals and went at their pace.

Mine got most of her nutrition from breastmilk right up until 9 months then she began taking food from my plate and I just let her, I'd give her a portion of my food and let her play with it.

I then gave soft veggies and spaghetti with a nutritious sauce for her to play with and eat.

This went on and on until she began eating more full meals.

We started at 5 months, she's 6 months now but not overly keen still. I havent really read anything about it so feel like I dont really know what I'm doing either! We started with pouches but she was not particuarly interested, however she is very happy with anything she can hold herself. I try and give her a few different bits at breakfast/ lunch/ dinner. I've noticed she eats much better when there's a few of us sat around eating together if that helps.

Did BLW from 6 months so she just got what we we were eating (but no honey until 1)
needs to be chunky pieces size of finger so they can pick up and eat themselves. Did some preloaded spoons for yoghurt etc.
Key is just to keep offering all different things, lots of flavours, textures, no coaxing, no over the top praise either - eat as a family.

How to wean your baby

but it and it will take you step by step through the process. I was the same and it felt daunting but this book made it so so easy

We started weaning this month, I’ve been doing 1 meal a day that consists of some form of veggie purée/mashed up and a finger food option. Is working well, not sure if DS is ready for another meal just yet though!

Read to go at baby’s pace, so that’s what I’m doing! Good luck!

Let your baby lead.

we started the week before she turned six months because she’d been trying to grab at our food for weeks. Single fruit or veg purées along with sticks of cooked veg to start with. Then I let her lead with what she preferred to try and how much she wanted to eat.

after the first week I would give her something new in the morning and in the evening give her something she had already tried and I knew she was fine with.

DD took to it very quickly so she moved onto finger foods and chopped up dinners but it’s fine for babies to take a little longer to take to it.

with allergens I did them one by one, gave them in the morning and gave the same allergen for three days to see if she reached in any way, and then moved onto the next one:
