Winter evening “active” activity suggestions for 9mo

I know he should be in bed at 7:30 but he never is so I’m just trying to think of there’s anywhere or anything we could take him to.

He’s very active so reading and sitting nicely playing with toys just isn’t an option. We need to wear him out ideally. He can’t walk yet although can cruise though. Was thinking of swimming but not sure if there’s anything else x

Honestly I’d suggest it’s far better to wear him out during the day- your options are really limited in winter for a small baby when everything baby friendly is shut.

He’s at nursery all day but it’s just not enough 😢 xxx

We sometimes take torches and go to the park in the dark. DD loves it.

Ah ok. I totally get where you’re coming from as I have a very active boy too. How much sleep is he getting? Swimming is a good idea in theory but I think most pools would close to children in the evening.

Now mine can walk/run he totally wears himself out, so it will get easier.

Swimming is good for tiring them out. I used to take my DD at about 4 oclock at that age and she was shattered afterwards.

Some simple ideas for staying at home when mine were this age and needing to burn some extra energy: just letting them repeatedly climb up the stairs, or throw sofa cushions on floor for at home soft play and let them stumble about. So frustrating when they can’t walk yet but have all that extra energy!

At 9 months old and not walking, you don't really need to go anywhere. Just provide space and things to interact with in your house. On the carpet or a blanket or a foam mat surface, a few light plastic balls like ball pit balls to pick up and throw around, empty cardboard box to crawl in and out of, a blanket across two chairs to make a tunnel/den to go in and out of... you don't need to get too ambitious, everything is fun to interact with!

Tunnel to crawl through. IKEA do a cheap one

And I second the cardboard box idea. Cut holes in it and play peekaboo
