What do you manage to accomplish each day? Mums of bubs

Hi all

I'm a mum to a 7 month old and also an 11 year old.
Currently hubby is working away so I'm here on my own with the girls the majority of the time.
We live on a farm and have a couple of pigs, dogs and cats. Hoping to add to our livestock next year.
I have an extensive vege garden.

Anyway, you can imagine there's always plenty to do.

Today I'm having a lazy day (it's raining and baby and I both have head colds) and I am struggling to enjoy my time blobbing out while baby sleeps.

Do some mums literally just get up, tend to baby, keep the house nice, watch tv etc...?
Not a criticism at all!
I want to be convinced that I should lower my expectations of myself.
X

Bubs?

Regularsizedrudy · 06/12/2022 19:29

🤨

Letsgotitans · 06/12/2022 19:37

Well yes that is what some mums do... You do what makes you happy. But if you want to do less, sounds like you'd have to get rid of some animals and reduce your vegetable patch. I bet those take up quite a bit of your day

’Bubs’ won’t end well…

ohblahdeeohblahdahlifegoeson · 06/12/2022 19:43

I'm confused, what's wrong with the term 'bubs'?
I'm not in the UK and it's a term we use all the time

What’s a bub?

It's a term we use for baby. I thought it was worldwide but perhaps not

Assume you're in Australia or NZ? Anyway some people like to be busy, some don't. Whatever makes you happy. I've worked full time since my DC were 6m old. Each to their own.

Well, that does sound rather critical, if you don’t mind me saying! I am a mother to an 8mo baby and a 2 year old. I’m on maternity leave. I do mainly just keep the house, make dinner, and care for my baby and toddler when she’s not in nursery. Somehow, quite unbelievably, I manage to fill my days, and do far less ‘blobbing out’ than I’d like.

Rereading my post I agree, I do sound critical. I didn't word it very well.
Honestly not meaning to sound that way at all.

I know it's going to be more work with a toddler...at the moment my wee girl is happy in her pram or on her play-mat but once she's mobile I'm sure I'll be kept on my toes running round after her :)

I had no idea! Sounds like the term hubby is too 😂
I'll have to stick to DD and DH as I read on here

Fair play to you for owning that. I get what you meant, really. I think it’s fine to have days where you don’t do much, for what it’s worth.

jjeoreo · 06/12/2022 20:00

There are different types of people in the world. When it comes to looking after the home, I take forever to do a bad job, grumpily. But some really can do it all and do it well.

Rest is important for recovery when you're ill. Just tell yourself that. But maybe you're the sort to thrive on being busy...that's great. Don't compare yourself to others if everyone's happy.
