Hey,

I need some advice, I've tried my best to ask family and friends and also look online but I'm still unsure.

I have just found out I'm around 9 weeks pregnant (happy!) I've just accepted a new job, I work for my local council and have a job in a different department. I have worked with the local council for around 8 years now.

Will I be entitled to paid maternity leave off them? I understand you need to be in continuous employment for 26 weeks, I'm literally transferring jobs currently (still within the same council)

Any help or advice welcome,
Thank you in advanced!

Hi OP I would assume that as its the same company you would be entitled to the maternity pay as set out in your contract and your employment will be classed from when you first started with the company.

I had similar with DC number 2, I changed roles but the same company and I was entitled to full company maternity pay.

Yes, if it’s for the same council.

ensure that you keep your continuous service and yes you will then be entitled to maternity pay. Make sure your continuous service date is on your new contract or you have it in writing that you will maintain that.

My other half is council. He moved to another council 5 years ago and retained his continuous service benefits like holiday, so I would assume maternity comes under that :)
