My 11mo gets fantastic daily nursery reports. Eats everything only really turns down sandwiches he’s fussy with bread

but lately this past week I’ve noticed at home it is a NIGHTMARE to get him to eat new things

ive ended up rotating similar meals and it’s stressing me out

he tried 2 diff things. One Friday night and Saturday night - he has a few spoonfuls then throws a meltdown and refuses the rest???

any help please im dreading every meal time atm😭😭

Serve him a meal you know he likes alongside something new to try

ultimately you can’t force it. They pick up on stress aswell.

Oh so normal!

You wouldn’t believe the stuff my 2.5yo eats at nursery compared to at home!

My children ate absolutely everything….until they started school

It's normal. They're fussy sometimes 🤷.

Give him something you know he likes alongside something new to try.

And calm down. He'll pick up on your stress and tbh it sounds completely unnecessary! He's not starving is he?! So what if he wants his favourites for a while?

Yep! This phase lasts approximately 16 years

Definitely normal unfortunately, they seem to go in phases 🤦🏼‍♀️

Echoing previous poster, I give my nearly 2 year old a meal I know he enjoys with the 'new' bit on the side for him to try, which he may or may not.

Also found over the last few months that the more stressed I get about it, the worse DS is about not eating. Once I'd learned to relax around it a bit and trust that my child won't starve himself, once he gets hungry enough (usually try a meal, if he refuses we leave the table and go and play / do something else, and I try again in 30 mins, repeat 3 times) he normally polishes off the lot without any argument by the 2nd or 3rd go!
