Childcare etc

Just a ranty post and to see if anyone has magical advice for me. Just got an email from childcare provider that costs are going up by £350 a month from Jan.

Both myself and partner work full time which results in child in care from 7:30-5.30. We get a little top up from universal credit, we don't earn lots of money and have like everyone else cut back on lots. But where are we expected to just find this money?!

Ridiculous isn't it. Would a child minder be any cheaper? Would dropping a day in work a week cost you more than the extra 350?

This is a childminder, in a sticky situation as I'm pregnant and need to stay full time for maternity pay. Also my work aren't flexible at all and don't offer fixed days. It's so awful

I see. Is the nursery cheaper? Do you qualify for any free childcare? I've heard people doing time consuming paid surveys? Anything in your house/attic available to sell, could you make things to sell (I know sounds insane and where you'll have the time but just a thought) any family friends can help with childcare? Could you do anything from home on top like proof reading or something ?
