Baby Sleep - how to transition from sling/carrier to cot?

As the tile suggests…

My LG is 4 months old and sleeps in her bed at night but for some reason does not think it’s an acceptable place to nap during the day. Fault is ours as we started the baby carrier/sling naps back when she was teeny tiny newborn and she loves napping in there. Which is now also our problem. We invested in ergonomic good quality carrier but she is a chunky little monkey and carrying her around for 3-4 naps a day every day is starting to feel a bit like torture.
I don’t have the heart or resolve to do CIO, but have been looking at more gentle approaches like pick up/put down, Ferber, etc. to potentially try.
Does anybody have any advice? Either if you’ve gone through this, or have experience with baby sleep? What’s the best way to approach it? Do we go cold turkey on the carrier and only stick to the cot, do we start with one nap a day in the cot and work our way through hopefully more? Everything I’ve read says consistency is key, but would love if someone can offer more specific guidance around that!
sorry for the lengthy post!

No advice but bumping you because I'm in a similar situation. On me or in the sling is the only day time sleeping places for us. The dream would be the cot, I've got her to sleep and transferred her across but max get 20mins out of her, hardly worth the effort of getting her to sleep!

Thank you @Tiredmum31111 !

I must say we decided to just start putting her in her crib for naps this week.
She sleeps only for 30 min, and there's a ton of screaming before, but I cannot continue carrying her around all day every day for hours on end.
Not sure if it's because we transitioned the carrier out, but she also started napping in her pram again (which hasn't happened since mid Sept!).

What has been working for you? My little one will only nap on me during the day and just wakes up on transfer if I try to put her down. She has never self soothed herself to sleep. Need any tips you may have!

Does your LG sleep in the pram? We've found daytime naps in the pram work - even just rocking in the hallway rather than going for a walk - saves your back/arms but rock them for comfort too. Once they're used to sleeping lying down in the pram for a week or two you could then try the cot. Good luck!

I've managed to transition to pushchair naps as I think the motion helps/mirrors the movement of the sling. I achieve things in nap times now 😂

Not sure about the step to the cot nap - I never achieved it with my other baby - she just cried and cried!

Try pushchair naps first. My DSs would only sleep if I sit then up ever so slightly then put it flat once they were asleep- if that's an option for your pushchair. Eventually they got used to it and would sleep quite a while in there. Also - whitenoise is amazing.

If it’s the carrying around that is the problem, why don’t you try contact naps?
Baby will like it because it’s similar to the sling so will nap for longer and also means you can get some rest and put your feet up xx
Mine was the same. All naps in the sling until he hit 6 months. I started getting back pains so we switched to contact naps one day and haven’t looked back since. We still use the sling sometimes but never for naps.
