Can someone tell me how to entertain a very nearly 4 year old ds and 2.5 year old dd all day please as clearly I just don't see how I can!

Our day so far
6.30am start
breakfast 7.30am
'help' me with washing etc for a bit and play on their own interspersed with a story or two
10.00am soft play for two hours plus lunch (it has been peeing down all day) with friends plus children
12.24pm Sainsbury in the pouring rain to try and find new pyjamas for ds - unsuccessful
1.30pm tv while I do internet shopping and empty dishwasher and briefly come on here
2.30pm get some art stuff out for them to do with me but mostly get annoyed with them for tipping the majority of the glittery bits on the floor
now tv on again

I am pregnant and knackered - HELP

They've had a full interesting day, you're pg, you deserve a rest, it's shite outside don't feel bad at all.

Could do with some advice on keeping them amused all afternoon too so will watch with interest. If it's any concellation it's on again in my house again too and I'm sure many others

Sounds like you are doing a great job to me, we have the telly on far to much in this house, I am trying to ration.

Yep it's on in mine too! Have two ds's 3 and 17 months - today DS1 has been in nursery in am ds2 slept all morning I did ironing, ebay listings etc.... Then picked ds1 up at 12.15 back home for lunch all cleared up by 1.30

Since then we have played trains, done sticking with cut up cards, magazines etc, played in the garden for over an hour, drawings, puzzles all done together I leave them alone to play and they've wrecked the lounge and the telly has come back on again..... Just don't know how much more I can do with them

Same story here but with DVDs, we got rid of all TVs last year. Also PG and have a 2 year old and a 1 year old and quite often just need to sit down without reading, colouring, building towers, role playing etc..

DVD was introduced at certain times of the day and monitored time wise. Now they are going on more frequently although fortunately DS1 does tell me 'all done now' when he's had enough (but nags again later when he's fed up playing) but goes back on and stays on for quite a few episodes.

Weather here hasn't been great, i get tired very quickly and am often sick, there is no one around to take the kids off my hands/entertain them during the day and DH works long hours often home when everything is done and i am looking a little worse for wear. What i'm saying is don't be hard on yourself, is a long, long day with two children and a pregnancy. Congrats btw and Hope that wasn't too much of a waffle!

Petitfilou I think you are beating yourself up a little bit too much! They sound like they have had an interesting and active day. I am also pregnant and knackered but only have 1 ds to contend with (3) and have just stopped feeling guilty about my "use" of tv as a means to get some peace.

Our day is similar to yours- we get up/breakfast at the same time, tv on whilst I get showered, went to a local play session where we met sil and her dd, they came back to ours for lunch, ds had nap for 1/2 hr and I tidied up lunch things, played outside briefly then went for a little bike ride, came back home for about 3.30 and at this point tv went on again as I am absolutely shattered and really need a break! It will be going off in a few mins for tea and will then stay off until 7pm when there will be the obligatory 1/2 hour of Max and Ruby (or Max and Booby according to ds who has just come to the opinion that anything vaguely related to body parts, bottoms or pooh etc is absolutely hilarious)

Be kind to yourself, you're pregnant and even if you weren't- your needs have to come first sometimes, mums need to "win" occasionally too!

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancyx
