Feeling guilty… too much tv

I feel so guilty with how much tv myself and DC3 have been watching this week… I’ve had covid for the first time and I’ve had no energy to do anything we normally would.

I’m on my own and usually we would be out somewhere most days but due to feeling so rubbish we’ve just been having tv days on the couch.

Today isn’t looking much better and the guilt is starting to become overwhelming 😔

Have you got any crafts you could do or any baking stuff?

Try not to feel guilty. You're unwell.

You’re ill, it’s fine. I bet DC3 is loving it. As long as it Ceebies rather than Game of Thrones it’s all good.

I’m normally very strict with TV but when you’re ill it’s a god send.

The whole point of TV is that you have it to fall back on when you or they are ill. I personally try to limit it as much as possible the rest of the time so it's a real distraction when it is on.

Ideas for other things you can do to entertain him without expending too much energy:

Blow bubbles in the garden for him to chase
Make a den in the living room for him to play in.
If you have a long piece of cardboard or anything like that, make a ramp for him to roll cars down. Even more fun if he builds towers at the bottom for them to knock down
If you can spare a pack of pasta, set him up with some saucepans, jugs, spoons, random kitchen stuff and a pack of pasta on a tray (do it on a blanket, prefer one of those waterproof backed ones waterproof side up, to make cleaning up quick and easy)
Let him have a good long 'daytime' bath with toys he doesn't normally have in there
Start sorting out his toys to 'declutter' them (he'll suddenly realise how much he loves each and every one of them and sit down to play with them for ages)
If you have a gingerbread man cutter draw around it on cardboard and cut out a bunch of gingerbread man shapes. He can decorate them with pens and stickers. Then hide them (in plain sight) around the house and send him off looking for them.
If he likes puzzles, cut pictures out of old comics or mags stick them to card and cut them into a few pieces, and he can arrange them back into the picture

But honestly, if you need to, just slump. As long as there's nothing inappropriate TV is ok.

Thank you, there are some great ideas I’ll definitely try here
