10 mnth old grinding teeth - what to do?

DD has her 4 front teeth now, and she's discovered the joys() of grinding them together. It's horrid!

Anyone got any suggestions on how to persuade her to stop? I've tried ignoring her and distracting her, neither of which have been desperately successful. Biggest problem (for me at least) is when she starts doing it in the middle of the night when I'm trying to get her to sleep.

Please help, cos it's driving me up the wall and I'm finding it hard to deal with on top of getting up however many times a night

there isn't anything you can do as she is too young for a guard. When she is asleep gently move her postion and it is usally enough to get them to stop. My DD is 4 and she does it at times. The dentist says I do too.

I was afraid people would say that.

It's not that she does it when asleep - it's when she won't GO to sleep. The other night I had two hours of trying to get her back down. I'd get her to sleep, but before I could get back into bed she'd wake up and start crying, I'd pick her up, she'd flop on my shoulder and start grinding her teeth...

The dentist told me it was a sign of stress.

Hi - my DD did exactly the same thing but grew out of it quite quickly - couple of months at the most. I thought it might be because she was getting used to the feel of having teeth in her mouth - must be strange after just being gummy
Stress? - my arse.

DS has just started doing this as his four front top teeth have come in. It doesn't seem to bother him (certainly nothing to do with stress!) but the sound... argh!!!

Sorry, not much help...
