Potty training - weeing every 5 minutes!

DS is 2 years 10 months and has recently been showing interest in toilet etc. Came home from nursery yesterday and had asked to do a wee twice & had used potty

So I thought today was as good a day as any to start training!

We have had some wee’s on potty & spontaneously taking himself to potty which is good, had to put a nappy on for him to poo.
Tried undies twice but they got wet straightaway so have left him naked from waist down all afternoon

However I have noticed he doesnt seem to do a proper wee, its little dribs and drabs frequently - literally every 10 minutes or so. He’s done several of these little dribbles all over the floor today.

Will bladder control be something he learns? Or is it too early to train if he isnt going for 1.5-2 hours between wee’s? Although surely at 35 months he should be?
I just feel like there is zero chance of us cracking it if he would need to be going to the potty every 10 mins!

That's part of the process. This is when they learn to hold it rather than just letting it out whenever. DD1 was peeing loads when we first started but it really reduced after the initial couple of days.

Yes absolutley, DS just turned 3 and trained in Aug, little wees all the time for the first few days but easily holds it for 2 or more hours now

There’s a section about this in the oh crap book so it must be fairly common, can’t recall exactly what it says but the jist was that it resolves its self as they learn to hold it, which is something they are physically capable of from when they start walking, but there just wasn’t any need before now. And upside is you have lots of chances to catch it in the potty so it’s easier I think than having a camel kid that only goes twice a day!

Tbh I left it for a while at this point and tried again a few months later. DS wore pull ups and could go to the toilet or potty if he wanted in the meantime but I didn't have the hassle of a wet floor or clothes.
