What to do after pre school

Looking for any ideas to do with my son after pre school- we go to the park, softplay etc but any interesting things I could do with him to mix it up a bit?! I often find by the time he's had lunch and normally a nap it's time to go and pick up his sister but would like to try to do something. Thanks

On our weekday off we used to go to the park, playground, sOft play, library when they had rhymetime on (singing nursery rhymes). If nothing else, we'd go for a walk around the block or shopping and sometimes a bite to eat or hot chocolate in the supermarket cafe. How much time would you have?

Today he didn't nap so we did painting, some playing with his little happyland figures and some tv but then he had a meltdown at about 4 as he was so tired so it's tricky, I think he needs the nap still. I find there are lots of things on in the morning but not a lot in the afternoon.

I find my son needs restful, simple activities in the afternoon just me & him. Would he snuggle up and have some books read to him? Or listen to audiobooks? My son loves going on the bus if it is not raining, we just go to the next village and back, you could try a new playground if there is one on a bus route. We watch toddler club together on bbc iplayer, it gives us some ideas of things to do and he likes the songs. Sometimes we go swimming if there is time, or I put him in the pushchair (I know some people don't like doing this with older toddler but it gets them a rest) and get a good brisk walk in myself. We do chores together like laundry and cooking (supervised - he normally just mixes two ingredients for example while I get on with chopping etc). He loves simple dressing up and role play for example set out a “shop” and he can be the customer or the shopkeeper. “Write” a letter and walk to post it? Indoor games like throwing a bean bag into a toy basket? We do cosmic yoga on youtube, the very simple farm and jungle ones. Ask a friend to swap some puzzles or games or toys for a bit to give you some “new” ones? Its so much easier when the weather is better isnt it!!

Some great ideas there, thank you so much. We're quite rural where we live so no bus route but I'm going to take him on a train next week, I've been meaning to do that for ages. He loves making cakes now so that's been a good activity and making a den/ pulling all the cushions off the sofa 😀 I'll definitely check out toddler time and cosmic yoga- my dd4 does it sometimes but I didn't realise there were younger ones. I like the idea of something we can do/ watch together and something a bit more interactive
