what is the difference between colic and reflux?

Seem very similar. DS had colic and it stopped dead on 3 months, but still regurgitated a lot of milk but it didn't distress him. With the colic he was in pain or discomfort 24/7 unless I carried, rocked, stroked his back, and he did the typical pulling his legs up. No milk allergy. He's a big teen now, but you never hear about colic, just reflux.

I thought that colic was continuous crying for long periods without an obvious reason. Reflux on the other hand is a digestive issue. Both unique to newborns but the latter can be treated while the former is very distressing but not a specific medical condition. Not sure how accurate that is but it's what I've gathered from reading baby articles over the years!

Colic is a symptom, not a diagnosis. It just means excessive crying. A baby could therefore be exhibiting colic as a result of reflux.
