Fever not going down

Hello, just looking for some advice - my daughter (turning 1 next week) has had a fluctuating temperature for about 4/5 days now but yesterday and today it has been consistently high. Today, she has had calpol twice four hours apart but this did nothing to bring the temperature down, it remained at 38.2. Otherwise she's not too bad. She's not 100% herself but has had wet nappies and done a poo, is drinking some water and milk and while she won't eat her normal food she has eaten 2 pouches of Ella's kitchen purée. She is up and down between just wanting cuddles and being a little clingy and wanting to go off and play. I just can't get her temp down and the nhs site says to see doctor if temp won't go down or if it has gone on for longer than 5 days. I've given her nurofen and she is currently down for a nap.

I have been on hold to 111 for ages and we're prepared to take her to a&e if needed but I don't want to make her sit through hours of a noisy a&e when she would be best recovering at home if we don't need to. Has anyone any advice? What would you do?

As I said she is mostly ok in herself but the temp is concerning.

Nurofen always works better for us regarding temps.
It is a long time isn't going down so I would see what 111 say but I would be wanting her checked over.

In cases like this from my experience, it's been an ear infection, tonsillitis or a UTI.

Hello, thank you for your reply. We ended up taking her in, you were spot on - tonsillitis so hopefully on the mend soon. Thanks again x
