Looking for some new ideas on what to with my 4 month old at home as our days feel a bit repetitive, especially when the weather is bad. So far we do reading/nursery rhymes, baby gym, tummy time and rolling around on playmat and tours of the house and garden etc

That’s plenty. The baby is 4 months old. I think mine binge watched bridgerton with me at 4 months.

I used to do yoga and Pilates on a mat beside them, have a bad back and this worked well for both of us. And they both were curious about me being on their level.

Regularly played music -90s and read aloud whatever book I was reading. Water play in the bath. A bit of sensory time - so lava lamps and sensory lights, (family member gifts). We also spent a lot of time watching our family of cats wash themselves - this was one way guaranteed to bring a smile!

If mine would let me put him down I tried to get some house work done… everything’s a learning experience at 4 months, including watching you fold washing 😊

I used to feel guilty for not “entertaining” all the time but actually it’s okay just to potter around doing stuff.

Mine spent most of his time sleeping on me while I watched TV.

Could put some things in a basket for them to explore. Think I did that more 6 months but may be something they might like earlier. Could theme it e.g. shiny objects, objects of a particular colour, wooden items, musical instruments, animals, things to rattle/shake, winter items etc. if you google treasure baskets you will see more ideas. Take a bath together. Watch some Netflix. Work out and have her watch you. Cook food if you can put her down. Babies that age are quite boring. I'm only 6 months in. They get a bit more fun each month. At 5 started rolling and now is rolling around on her playmat and grabbing stuff.

May repeat some of what you’re doing but:

singing
books
tummy time
baby toys
play mat
sensory toys
baby class (baby sensory)
go for walks in pram
visit friends / family
a bit of limited screen time like cbeebies (don’t judge me 😂)

not all each day obviously but lots of variety
