Baby girl has oral Thrush

My little girl who is 7 months next week has been poorly, she had a cough and cold, but it started off with mouth thrush. She got prescribed nystatin for 14 days which has now ended today, she's had oral thrush for 16 days now and all inside her cheeks are still rather white and blotchy I've just noticed. She's not in pain with it like she was at the start and her feeds her fine, but I'm just not sure if I take her back to the doctors for more treatment or is there something else I can do? I keep notching her touching inside her mouth also, so I'm constantly wiping her hands

Nystatin is rubbish ime. Daktarin oral gel much better - both my kids had oral thrush.

@Brechdanjamcaws considering she's been on it for 2 weeks it seems rubbish because her mouth is still all white inside🫣 can I just go to a pharmacy and get something? Or shall I just go to the doctors?

Are you breastfeeding? If so you need treating also.

Yes, see if you can get some Daktarin, as the Nystatin hasn't worked. DD2 had oral thrush that kept coming back after Nystatin, but one round of Daktarin (continued for 5 or 7 days after all white patches gone) sorted it. We had to get it from the GP, but DD2 was younger than your wee one. The GP said Daktarin is harder on their organs than Nystatin, so that's why Nystatin is what they try first.

And yes, treatment for you too if breastfeeding. A cream is usually the first option, but if you've got deep pain or it keeps coming back, you may need tablets.

Thank you ladies, no I'm not breastfeeding. She is formula fed

Agree with PP. 2 weeks with Nystatin with our 2 week old with no joy (and was a complete pain in the arse to be honest) daktarin cleared it up in a few days. Make sure you're washing bottle teats, dummies etc well too. Anything that goes in her mouth.

Mine is 9 months and on her second case of this. We are breastfeeding though so I get treated too. I've been using daktarin oral gel for her, it doesn't taste bad at all. All the pharmacies have it. Cleared up the cheek patches very fast! Watch she keeps her hands out of your mouth... I'm having the oral gel this time too for this reason I assume :( Good luck!

So hard when they are this age when they have their mouth on everything. She constantly has everything in her mouth so I'm on constant watch, wiping her hands, wiping her toys down. She loves putting her dummy in and out of her mouth as well. I rang today but they said because the nystatin ran out today to ring tomorrow. So I'll ring again tomorrow and hopefully get it cleared up
