What’s after the high chair?

DD is 2y4m and being a real pain about going in her high chair (we’ve got the ikea one with a third party footrest)

She either wants to sit at the table with us (which doesn’t work well as she’s too small to reach her food sitting and I don’t want her standing on the chairs) or roam around eating which I don’t like either.

Does anyone have any recommendations for booster seat type things or other toddler chairs that might help? We usually all eat dinner together but it’s becoming a bit of pain as she’ll only tolerate the high chair for a very short time and then she’s kicking off to get down but she’s still hungry.

I’m open to any suggestions! I don’t mind her getting down once she’s finished eating but the up down up down is doing my head in.

I bought a generic non branded booster seat with straps for my soon to be two year old son so that he can sit at the table with us. I got it off FB marketplace though so I'm not sure where the first owner bought it from.

It's similar to this one: www.amazon.co.uk/Safety-1st-Essential-Booster-Warm/dp/B07J34PZCQ/ref=asc_df_B07J34PZCQ/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309759544992&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9968918124064199650&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007038&hvtargid=pla-556496203147&psc=1&th=1&psc=1

But I'm sure there are better things out there :) My son is quite tall as well so we weren't as affected by the height of any potential seat.

We’ve got a Tripp trapp.

At that age mine were out of highchairs and just sat up on their knees on a normal chair.

IKEA sell excellent toddler chairs. They are about 10 cm higher and much less deep than adult chairs, with a bar for the child yo rest their feet and it makes all the difference.

We have a Tripp trapp at home (bought second hand so not too ££) and a Nuby travel booster seat for out of the house, which could easily be used at home.

Tripp trapp, or off brand equivalent, readily available on facebook/ebay.
Had booster seat for a while but was a nightmare to clean, so depends on the booster and how messy they are.

We have an AGAM. Toddler adopted it immediately and it stopped all the issues of trying to into and out of the high chair.

We have a Tripp trapp, it's great my 4 year old is still using it.

DS had a booster chair that sat on top of a regular chair until he was about 3.5. After that, we got him a junior chair from IKEA, they're brilliant

Cheap booster cushion from amazon, that's all we needed

DarkAndDusty · 14/11/2022 16:16

I just let mine sit on a normal chair and didn't bother with a booster. She's managed perfectly fine although did perch on her knees for a bit. No complaints!

AnonWeeMouse · 14/11/2022 16:17

We got miniature table and chairs that looked like crayons. She used it for drawing and painting and Lego and eating.
Daughter liked having her own table, not all kids would I guess.

PortalooSunset · 14/11/2022 16:28

We had one of these. Adjustable and you can use with or without the tray table.

Regular cushion/pillow covered in a towel…

Tripp trapp here too. Kids are 11 now and still used every day for homework
