No I've not started a new religion....as a late mover to washables, I've dithered over the best system for toddler night times and I just wanted to share my tales of success with wool wraps.
I was using Airflows over a variety of well at keeping DD dry for the 12 hours overnight but I had misgivings about the redness around her thighs not going away. They were also on the last set of poppers, they seemed tight and I wondered if they were sweaty and I just wanted to put her in something comfy for night.
I read a lot about the wool wraps before I made some purchases, I simply didn't believe they could really work and also suspected they would stink like a pissy wet sheep. I was also worried my DP would flip, as he was already a bit doubtful about the whole thing as disps had been so easy.
I ordered some (totally weird looking) Disana wool shorts, which in large are HUGE so will get us through summer if DD is still in nappes. And a great pair of longies from March Hare. They are the softest brown dog tooth check and DD wants to wear them all day. The lanolising is not at all hard, it takes 5 mins, I do it while DD is in the bath and leave them to soak overnight. The longies came pre-lanolised and are getting better with every weekly treatment. The shorts weren't pre-lanolised and I've only done them once but there must be something about the Disana wool or the knit as these stay totally bone dry. Amazing!! The longies are perhaps the teeeeniest bit damp, but certainly not wet. And after a hour inside-out in the boiler cupboard where it's toasty warm they are totally dry and not at all whiffy!
As they take a couple of days to dry after the lanolising it is worth having 2 pairs and I can't imagine dealing with poo on them, but I can only say that I am 100% happy with them for a heavily wetting toddler. And no worries about cold legs if she kicks the duvet off.
Sorry about the essay, I just wanted to share my new woolly love!
