Toddler Towers

Hi All,

I have a 15 month old who I think is ready for a toddler tower to use in the kitchen, does anyone use one and have you found it be worthwhile and gets used often? I’m worried I’ll buy it and it will just clutter the kitchen and gather dust!

If anyone has any recommendations that would be appreciated.

TIA

We just have the ikea double step stool, no sides required, it’s not like you’d leave them unattended in the kitchen anyway! And I often use it too to reach the top of the pantry.

Yeah we also have the IKEA one, it's quite tall and he was a bit older before we bought it as his balance wasn't great before that. We also have the plastic short IKEA one but that is nowhere near tall enough.
Before that we just used a small step we had already but he did fall off it a fair few times, so if that's a concern then a proper one might be better

@FlounderingFruitcake and @johnd2 thank you both! I would never have considered a step stool thing so he’s been on that today with no wobbles, so thank you for that. Fortuitously we are going to IKEA on Saturday so I can take a look then too. Thank you again!

We have one that DHs dad made at my request, I think we’ve used it about five times in the last year. It lives in the garage because our kitchen is tiny but even when it lived in the hallway it didn’t get much use either. I asked for it when DD was about 2.5 and had fallen off a collapsible stool too many times when I turned my back to grab something from the fridge or sometimes when I was right next to her! She’s now 3.5 and tall and stable enough to stand on her bathroom step and help in the kitchen.

We have an amazing folding one. Got it when DS was 1, and I've loved having it. I do a lot of cooking with him, still use it now he's a very tall 3 year old. He wasn't the most physically coordinated toddler so I don't think either of us would have been happy with just a stool.

I did a hack with an ikea stool to add bars around it. Our DS has used it constantly for the past 2 years.

Ds using the Tripp trapp high chair as kitchen stool. It’s in toddler mode now so no bar or anything and it’s perfect height and stability. Then uses as main seat at table as well

We used a chair from the kitchen table, no added cost or storage required. With a wall on one side, the back of the chair behind her, and me on the other side, DD1 was pretty well hemmed in, although when she was wee, I did used to lift her down if I had to step away and was worried about her falling. Now that she's older, she sometimes chooses to use the IKEA step stool instead.

I bought a Little Helper second hand for 50 quid, and it's been used every day for 6 weeks in my not very big kitchen. My almost 2 year old loves being up high, I've bought her toddler knives and cutting boards and let her hack away at fruit/veg/bread and she's happy as Larry, my back is thanking me for it. I'm a single parent so it's been really useful when I can't have my full attention on her.

I bought one from Etsy about 3 years ago and we use it all the time, it’s been excellent.
