How wet should nappies be?

DS is 3 weeks old and EBF. Whenever I change his nappy (2/3 hourly during the day and 4 hourly at night) he’s always done a wee as it shows on wetness indicator on his nappy. He’ll also often do a wee when I’ve got his nappy off too.

even though he’s done a wee they are never big wet nappies. Is this considered okay? Is it because I’m changing him often so not really letting his nappy get big?

I’ve also noticed his fontanelle is slightly sunken when he’s upright but I don’t know if gravity has a part to play in that.

I think while they're in the newborn phase you need to change them more regularly, regardless of how full it is. So their delicate skin doesn't stay soggy. That's why newborn nappy sizes have the indicator. When they get bigger you you'll probably notice better bladder capacity and might go a tiny bit longer.
Is a sunken fontanelle a sign of dehydration? I guess it depends on whether it's properly sunken or just a bit flat. If his nappies are clear colour then it's probably ok, rather than slightly yellow if it's more concentrated.
