Toddler cold help!

FTM here 🙋🏻‍♀️ Any tips and tricks for helping a toddler (2) with a cold?! So so stuffy and blocked up. He went down at 7.30 and I’ve already been in to him 7 or 8 times to resettle 😴 last night I spent the night sat up holding him upright so he could get some sleep as he was waking every 15-20mins crying in his cot.

Sobs when I try and get him to blow his nose. Says the Calpol plug gives him a sore head. His cot is already tilted.

Olbas oil for children works well. I tend to put a few drops on the side of the sheet behind the pillow so little hands/faces can't get anywhere near, but really helps.

Thanks @LunaLoveFood - I’ll need to pick some up. He actually still refuses a pillow and a duvet 🙈 hates them! But I could put it on muslin or something at the side of the cot or tuck it down the end of the mattress. It’s been another rough night 😬

We found saline spray up the nose and a quick nose blowing a few times a day helped a bit.

You need a Vicks Paediatric humidifier , total game changer for all nighttime coughs and colds.

Saline flush or a anot sucker, at 18m you're unlikely to get him to blow his nose properly.

I find an electric vapour diffuser works best for mine with some lavender oil in, near the bed. Also a steamy bath (run the basin hot tap with the door shut while he's in the bath). Turn him belly down in bed, face turned to the side, so the snot runs out while he's asleep. Or prop him upright on cushions. A snot sucker can be useful, ditto Vicks or snuffle balm on the chest.
