Cinnamon allergy?

Hi my daughter was sick a couple of weeks ago just once was fine before and after, all she said she had was a headache so put it down to that. But she has been sick again to night again same thing she was fine before and after and no headache this time. I was thinking it might be something she ate and the only thing she had the same both times was cinnamon does anyone else have this reaction to cinnamon? Thanks .

Anyone can be allergic to anything. That’s what my son’s allergist told me when we found out he had anaphylaxis to all nuts, kiwis and horses. (Random, right?)

I have met people allergic to cinnamon. If in fact that's what it is, you should probably google what else is in the same family....and of course get a referral to an allergy specialist. Quite often, 1 allergy means there are more.

I am allergic to cinnamon. I don’t know how large our group is, but there is definitely a group of us.

i have several unusual allergies and in childhood they all presented as just getting sick after eating the food in larger quantities. They didn’t proceed to anaphylaxis until later in life.

Thanks so much I will book an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow. It’s so confusing because she has had cinnamon so many times before, she is seven so it strange this is only happening now.

And would an allergy make you sick 12 hours after eating the food

I think that’s unlikely, those I know allergic to food items show up immediately, especially something like cinnamon.

If it's a true allergy it would show up quickly, not 12 hours later. In intolerance can show up later.

For instance my dd is allergic to m&m's, smarties, minstrels etc - the hardening agent, which crops up occasionally in other things, mostly desserts, she's sick within the hour

It’s so strange I can’t work out why she would be sick. Cinnamon was the only thing she had in common both times
