What does this nappy leak mean?

DS keeps leaking urine at the top of his nappy leg hole on one side. He's 6wks and 9.2lb, quite long, broad midriff and skinny legs. Currently in size 2, Tesco have been the best fit but it happens in most brands (Aldi, lidl, pampers, boots bamboo) he was weeing up his back in size 1s

Frills are out and penis is down! I basically chant that in my sleep atm 🤣

Sounds like the nappies are too big for his age/size. Downsize back to 1 for the time being.

Hmmm, I'm not sure as size 1 were good but after a few weeks they made a lot of red thigh marks from and also leaked up the back. I did only try Lidl and Aldi size 1 though

Is he wearing a vest? I found that if the vest is a snug fit it doesn’t allow the nappy to expand as much and then it leaks. I tended to use the vests a size up give a bit more room.

Definitely sounds like the size 1s are too small. I found sainsburys quite good as they have a sort of stretchy waistband bit, so can stretch around the belly but still be tighter around the legs.

Sainsburyd is one if the only ones I haven't tried! Vests are fairly big, but he's got a few styles, I'm going to make a note of what he's wearing when it happens. He has a few zipper onesies and the zipped leg always sits awkwardly snugger than the rest of the suit. I wonder if that's the cause.

The zipper onesies were a nightmare for nappy leaks I found. I think it’s because the zip makes the nappy move to one side as it fills up and it makes a gap. I found the easiest was pyjamas, so much easier for nappy changes as no zips or buttons to fiddle with in the middle of the night.

ive found the sainsburys nappies the best I’ve tried, the stretchy waistband really seems to help. My DS is long with short skinny legs and I found them to only leak when he was nearly out of them (handily they do a + version as well - so same size but more absorbency!)

Asda little angels were great but they’re rubbish now. Currently trying loads of different ones. Try to get nappies with an elasticated back if you can

Size 1 pampers are up to 11lbs, size 2 start at 9lbs so if he’s slim legged then you definitely want 1s with Pampers. Definitely watch the fit of clothes - bigger vest and trousers were better than babygrows for mine. And frequent changes in the early days.
