Clock change has broken my baby wtf

My DS is 9- nearly 10mo. He has been a very good sleeper from about 8 weeks.
We struggled a bit with 3-2 nap transition and so he was still going.to bed by 6.30 mainly because I had to wake him by 2.50 from nap 2 to go and get my older dc from school. He would sleep 6.30-6.30 with a dream feed around 10_11pm which he normally wouldn't wake up during either.
Anyway fast forward to Sundays fucking clock change and it has all gone to absolute shit. He also has a horrible cough and cold which is badly timed. He was awake by 5 30am yday, and last night woke at 9.30, midnight, 4 30am. Both yday and today I've brought him into bed with me and he's gone back off to sleep until 6.30/7. Also yday and Monday his 2nd naps have been appalling. 30 mins long then awake screaming and crying. I've then had to rescue contact nap him and he's gone back off after 20 mins until 3.30ish. He is still showing signs of being eady for bed at 6.

Basically I'm losing my mind
Nap 1 today I put him down at 9.20 which is usual time. He grumbled for 10 mins then went to sleep for 15-20 then is now awake crying. I've been in once and cuddled then put down
Quiet for 5 mins now crying again.

I just don't know what to do. He has been an amazing baby- basically set.your watch by him and now he's a hot mess and tbh so am I because I'm functioning today on 5.5 broken hours of sleep.

Any advice?? Similar experiences? Will this get better?!?!

I’m so sorry. I wish I could help more but honestly that was my life every day. Your “broken” baby sounds like normal to me. Hopefully it’s the cold and things will improve soon.

Hiya, 5.5 broken hours is what I'm usually living on with my 9 month old.
What you're going through sounds like teething. Ibuprofen before naps and bedtime.

Sleep regression... There's an awful one about that age. Usually associated with developmental leap / teething. Just try and ride it out, should get better soon

Like others have said, it's probably more to do with the 9 month sleep regression and him feeling poorly.

Does he see better if you give him Calpol?

Duckseasonrabbitseason · 02/11/2022 13:14

Unfortunately it sounds like you've got the perfect storm of sickness, clock change and age (sleep regression) DD sleep went out the window the day she turned 10months. We got through it with contact naps and bringing her into our bed.

Thanks all for your responses. We didn't have any issues with my eldest and 9 month regression (but we got absolutely smacked silly with the 4 month one with her) so I think I had forgotten this. We escaped totally unscathed from the 4 month one with him so I guess only fair and to be expected we hit this one hard. Jeeeez it is so hard going from decent sleep back to shit!

He didn't have calpol last night during night, but did before bed. Night before last he had calpol before bed and at dream feed time too.

I am resigning myself mentally to being a member of the 5am club for foreseeable 😥

I agree that it sounds more likely to do with illness combined with a possible sleep regression than due to the clock change.

My advice would be to ride it out - stick with your usual routine and be consistent with it and hopefully it shall pass. I think in these types of scenarios some parents are too quick to start tweaking naps and making other changes when it’s something that might resolve itself quickly. I hope it does.
