Hi,

I am expecting another DC - When baby comes my DS will have just turned 3.

Do you think I will have use for a double pram and if so any recommendations?

Thanks

Would a buggy board not be more practical?

Yearsyonder · 31/10/2022 17:10

I wouldn't bother. I'd get a buggy board for the older one. And/or use a sling for the baby.

That's our age gap and we wouldn't have used a double pram at all. DD wouldn't even go in a pram now I think! She didn't like the buggy board either in the end so she just walks holding onto the pram strap if I want her to stay close.

And yes to a good/sling carrier. DD2 lived in the sling for the first 8 weeks.

Apparently you can get buggy boards that also have a little seat? I think I’m going to look into that, my daughter will be 3.5 when baby comes end of March and currently hates walking but I don’t use a pushchair hardly at all at the moment

Depends if you're going to need to do a lot of walking. My dd has just turned three, and we've used the pram once in the last six months, when she was unwell, and I needed to do the school run with her. On the whole though we don't have to walk long distances, we do her nursery run by car, and when she's not under the weather she can do the school run just fine.

Thanks everyone. DS os happy to walk short distances but eventually wants carried. Maybe he will be happier to walk come May. I'll look into the board thing though :)

Mine are 4 months and 2 years and I didn't bother, I got the buggy board which is also a seat! Works well for us 😊

My DD was able to walk everywhere by that stage. For really long walks we used a back pack carrier.

I had this age gap and DS1 was a lazy walker - liked to walk for a short while then snooze in the buggy. I knew it wouldn't be for long, so I bough a cheap second hand buggy that had the toddler bit in front and the baby bit at the back. Probably only used it for about 6 months, then got a buggy board.

Yellowrosesblue · 01/11/2022 00:06

I bought a second hand double Out and About. It comes in handy on occasion.it fits through most doorways and is light to push.

AlwaysLatte · 01/11/2022 00:06

We had a similar age gap and it was a mistake to buy a double - it was so unevenly weighted that it was hard to steer. And it's hard to push one-handed when you inevitably end up carrying the newborn. I'd go for sling and really easily one-handed steerable single pushchair, and buggy board so you can be flexible.
