Daytime activities for 4 month old who doesn’t sleep on the go?

My 4 month old has always been a terrible sleeper. Never slept more than 2 hours at a time at night and normally it’s every 1 hour. Naps have always been hard work too. Always in a sling and always white noise. He’s never slept well on the go. When he was a newborn, he’d sleep in a carrier on the go but now he’s so alert that he can’t switch off. He loves looking around. This means I feel like a slave to his nap times and can only leave the house whilst he’s awake and it’s driving me mad. I feel caged!

We used to go to baby groups but he just used to wail the entire time so I stopped going.

Does anyone have any ideas for things we can do during the day to make sure he’s stimulated enough and I can get out but allow me to be home for dreaded nap time? Also any solidarity from fellow nap slaves?

There lots of organisations that run baby swimming classes (we did Water Babies). They can be a bit pricey but they’re held in warm pools and they only last about 30 minutes. See what's running in your local area.

I’m a nap slave too 😢 what was your solution in the end?

Take him swimming? You don't need the extortionate classes, just go to the swimming pool. Take him shopping or for a coffee? Used to love doing that with baby DD.

@@UmmZayd my baby is now a year old and I’m afraid to say I’m still a nap slave! I definitely just accepted it a bit, as a happy baby is worth it for me. But it also got easier as he needed less naps so we were able to start going to playgroups and some baby classes again whilst he was awake. The drop-in ones are the best as if he happened to need a nap at the same time, I just didn’t go. Once he started to be on the move, I’d also take him to the library to crawl around a bit and look at books and the park etc. and we go for walks everyday. Play dates with other Mum’s has also been good, especially if their baby is a similar age as their schedules are similar.
