4 year old constipation

Hi, my four year old has been constipated for about a week. 3 and a half days ago I gave him a pediatric glycerin suppository and he went. But now here we are again he hasn't gone for 3 and a half days so I just gave him another one about an hour ago. It's the weekend so dr office is closed. He did go poop about 20 min after I gave it to him but it didn't seem like a whole lot. I guess I'm expecting more after that long or is any poop ( medium to small) a good thing? Wondering if I need to do it again? I'll be taking him to the dr Monday but for now I want to clean him out. He's not in pain thankfully. Any experience with the suppositories in children? Thanks!

Sorry no experience of giving a child a suppository but my 3 year old will refuse to poo for 4-5 days a week (every week) because she won't go at nursery for the first 3 days and then doesn't seem to be able to relax for a day or two afterwards. She ends up so uncomfortable. The GP has given her some kids movicol which does help but sometimes she has to have 4 plus doses in a day (thankfully not very often). If I don't have any then I give her califig which you can buy from any pharmacy - it sometimes helps.

DS used to withhold. It’s desperate. IIRC the suppositories won’t get it all out, only what is ‘low’. We got referred to a paediatric gastroenterologist in the end and the thing that worked was Pico liquid, it’s hardcore though, I likened it to liquid dynamite. It broke the cycle of withholding for DS as it’s non-negotiable

That seems to be the issue with my son, ever since starting preschool he holds it at school and now he is so irregular! Thank you for the advice! :)

Oh wow thank you for your reply. I didn't know that about the suppository only getting what is low. Thank you
