How long does amoxicillin take to make symptoms better?

DD has been down with a cold that she caught from her cousin last weekend. First two days she didn't have fever, only runny nose and sneezing (low grade, elevated body temperature at night), but on the third day spiked a fever above 101. Took her to urgent care, and the provider gave her amoxicillin because he suspected she had a throat infection. Her throat was extremely red and sore.

Gave her the first dose last night. Fever was going down a degree with paracetamol but not resolving completely. Continued panadol through the night and early morning. She seemed better but has again spiked a 100.5 degree temp this afternoon 5.5 hours after last dose. She took her second antibiotic dose this morning.

How long do antibiotics take to kick in? Can't see my baby sick anymore. Motherhood is tough. Sigh.

About 36-48 hours in my experience

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads will wait and hope for the best. Doesn't help that she's so tiny and cannot tell where the pain is.

My son is on penicillin and the doc said between 48 and 72 hours. It's 72 hours this evening and I think they're starting to really help, although his temperature does go up and down still.

@Mummyboy1 I'm sorry your LO is feeling unwell. May I ask what were the antibiotics prescribed for? Mine is very little and cannot explain whether her throat feels better or not, but the damned fever needs to go away. It makes her feel poorly, an otherwise happy chirpy baby.
