I really want to use real nappies (baby due in March) but DH is convinced he will only be able to cope with the simplicity of disposables (two bits of tape to fasten on, wrap up and throw in bin when done). However we are both not keen on having a bin of festering nappies waiting for binmen, or on environmental impact in landfill, so I am able to exploit the "wash em every (other?) day" hygiene and eco-friendly aspects of real nappies with him.
I have managed to get him to agree that I will buy some real nappies to see how we get on first and sell them on later if it's not working. Obviously I would really like it to work so I need to find the real nappies that are most like disposables in terms of fastening and minimal amount of handling of dirty nappy.
So I thought all-in-ones fastened with Aplix and using flushable liners rather than washable ones (at least for daytime) so that he can just flush it down the loo would be my best option and then perhaps shaped nappy with Aplix and flushable liner (simple nappy - no faffing with folding bits of fabric or adding fleece boosters etc.) and wrap with Aplix as second choice.
Any recommendations?
As a side issue, I keep reading that all-in-ones dry more slowly than others but it never says how long that is. How long does it take to dry an all-in-one, and what is the best way to do this? Have utility room so plenty of place to air-dry nappies overnight if necessary.
Thanks!
