I know people will say that snacking should be forbidden but my children like to have a little snack when they get in from school, what are the big hits in your house ?

We've been discussing it today - my DS has toast then he raids the biscuits so we've told him skinned carrots, cheese and perhaps hovis bix if very hungry and dinner is a whole

Great ideas peeps. I usually make ham and crackers, yoghurts, ham toastie, sometimes super noodles or I'll even just wack on a pizza if they are particularly hungry. I'm trying to steer away from sugary junk but it's v hard it appears

Yea sugary junk is just so easy ... my little boy is 10 and likely got ADHD and still is very beige in his diet so it's hard as he eats very little decent stuff

Toasted bagels and cream cheese go down well in this house.

Dd2 eats a ham wrap and some fruit.

I suffered from awful headaches as a child and the gp was very clear I needed food as soon as I got home from school. Lunch in primary school is at like 12 so it's a long time until dinner.

A pizza isn't a little snack! What time is dinner?

Mine loved cubed cheese and apple, cream cheese on ritz crackers, hummous and carrot, olives, hard boiled egg, if it was really cold a cup a soup, apple slices and peanut butter etc

How old?

My five year old gets through large quantities of fruit, plain rice cakes, breadsticks, flapjacks. Ravenous. She’s tall and losing weight! Her friends are similar.

Sorry I should say when i put on a pizza it's because they are really hungry so I just make dinner earlier than constantly make snacks. Son is almost 12 is is v v tall for his age and a complete skinny rake too! He plays sport every day too so he's just constantly burning through calories.
