Too young to drop morning bottle?

Newmummy2225 · 24/10/2022 13:48

My LO is 9 months this week and she’s really been fighting her morning bottle. It takes an age for her to finish it (7oz) and sometimes she’ll only take 5oz. It feels like I’m forcing her :(

I’m starting to wonder if she’s ready to drop
it but she seems so young to only be on one bottle? She dropped her afternoon one a couple of weeks ago so is already getting vitamin drops to compensate!

Has anyone else’s bubs dropped to one bottle this young?

Might she just want it a little bit later rather than dropping it completely? She might just not be that hungry first thing. I would maybe do her breakfasts made with formula too, weetabix, porridge etc

Everything I've been read and told is milk needs to be their main source of nutrition until a year old so I would say it is too young for her not to be having any bottles..

Neither of mine would entertain milk in the day from that age, paediatrician (lived abroad where it’s normal to see one) said it was fine if having vitamins drops and eating well.
I did used to make their breakfast with formula to compensate - like put it on Weetabix or use it to make porridge. Sippy cup of water to drink. Eldest is now 5 and touch would very healthy!

@Thesearmsofmine we already wait until about 45 mins after she’s been awake which is over 12 hours since her last bottle so you’d think she’d be hungry huh! X

@Rowen32 I know, that’s why I am a bit reluctant to drop it! She wouldn’t be on no bottles though, she takes 8oz before bed like a champ! X

@FlounderingFruitcake thank you for the reply! I could start using formula in her breakfast if she continues to fight it! X

Mine went onto cows milk I think by 9 months. I was quite apprehensive about it but my health visitor said there's no harm but only blue top? So that's what I done. I think my youngest was fully of milk by 1

Good advice here, I think - i.e trying it a bit later or just sneaking a bit of formula in with food. I've always tried to change something before getting rid of it completely.
