3.5yo suddenly pooing herself HELP

For the last week, my 3.5yo DD has been having between 1-4 poo accidents a day at preschool and home. She's been toilet trained for well over a year now. We had a few weeks of wee accidents about 4 months ago but that resolved itself. I can't figure out if this is constipation or something else. Her poo is a mix of fairly hard poo and normal soft but formed poo (sorry, TMI) and she's not complaining of tummy pain or pain when she actually poos (no straining). Can anyone help me understand?!

Has there been a big change for her? Ds did this when his baby sister arrived then it eventually stopped again.

Speak with your doctor

@bakewellbride nothing has changed at all. I've tried asking her why she didn't say she needed the toilet and I get the typical nonsensical 3yo response! She did mention another child in her preschool who does the same so I wondered if she may be copying them, but she gets uite upset when we discover she's had an accident. I'm at a complete loss! Calling the GP tomorrow but not sure what else I can do.

Sounds like constipation with over flow.

Soiling (encopresis ). It is very common with this age group. Have a look on the ERIC website for support. You should seek help as it won't go away by itself. You have my sympathy it is really stressful to go through. Try to understand that it is out of her control. When they relax or jump / run around, they leek which explains why you have several " accidents " a day. It takes time to resolve but you will get there

@dindinkybella77 thank you! I took her to the doctors on Monday and she was given a mild laxative and she's been using the toilet like a champ for the past 3 days. Lots of praise and fingers crossed we've caught it early and she'll continue on this good path!
