What do you think DS's chances are of making it to his second birthday unscathed? He's two in May and so far today has:

  • Climbed onto the windowsill to do mock surf moves while I was at the loo
  • Discovered a love of throwing himself into the deep end of the swimming pool (thankfully, DH was always there)
  • Been intercepted seconds from climbing onto the kitchen worktop
  • Tried to climb onto the back of the sofa for his own nefarious purposes
  • Hit himself on the head with a tin of tuna
  • Bashed his sister to within an inch of her life

What do you do? He's such a BOY, if you know what I mean - all go and very cute with it. In all seriousness, how do you keep them safe and stop them being quite so anti-social? Or do you just ride out the storm?

you try to protect them from the worst (knives, running out in front of cars, fire, hazardous substances) and then you ride out the rest.

Sounds like a day with ds (3.3)

Oh my, I was hoping it would be one of those phases which lasts a couple of weeks not years! I'll be buying hair dye, to cover the grey, gin and chocolate in bulk!

I've got some 30 odd year old mates who are definitely still going through this.

DS is 5 and definitely not over it yet - DH may be over the worst - but still climbs trees given half a chance to show off to DS...

Come on - someone give me hope and/or sensible advice!

My DD2 was also exactley like this, loved climbing every thing in sight yep worktop, windowsill ect ect. She now 3.4 and has calmed down loads.

I think tbh she actually got fed up of all the black eyes . she stil reverts back to her old ways from time to time, but shes better at climming now so less knocks .

I call it second child sydrome !!

twocutedarlings · 27/01/2008 21:30

climbing NOT climming FGS

discoverlife · 27/01/2008 21:31
