Flame, Nappy Zone, I'm Looking for a newborn nappy

I didn't use cloth nappies from the start last time, so I need a recommendation for a cheap nappy which is easy to put on and off a newborn. As we are thinking of ECing from the start this time.

I was thinking of maybe bamboo prefolds and a couple of wraps and a diaper belt for when I want to use a nappy without the wrap.

Or would flat sheets be cheaper and easier than prefolds.

Or any other suggestions ?

Would especially be interested in pull up, pull down nappies but reckon they would be more expensive.

Only has to last a couple of months and then I aim to move baby bea into DD's old one size Bum Genius.

Thanks

can i ask what a diaper belt is sorry

FlameNFurter · 27/01/2008 18:58

I would lean towards flat terries over the prefolds because you would get more flexibility from them.

The swaddlebees would be pullable uppable, but they ain't cheap.

Diaper belt looks like a hair scrunchy but bigger. You get the right size one for your baby. Pull over both legs and up to around your baby's waist.

Then take a flat or prefold nappy and make a rectange shape. Pull between the baby's legs like a loin cloth and the ends of the cloth go under and over the elastic belt.

Best for babies which are young and don't move much. Favored by ECers as it is easy to change nappy and to see when baby has wee'd

Flame,

Could I have prices per bamboo flats, swaddlebees and newborn wrap ?
How few flats could I get away with if I wash daily ?
How long does bamboo take to dry ?
Can they go on raditors ?

BabiesEverywhere i use the mothercare terry squares £9.99 for 6 and love them coz they are thin so u can get them really snug and slim fitting i find them slimmer than a tots bots size one and they are supposed to be one of the slimmest i use the triple fold and i love them also they dry really quick with out a tumble drier for the price they are i think the'd be worth a try to anyone i use a kushies wrap but don't know what would be the best as i don't really know what wraps to get myself

babyjjbaby · 27/01/2008 19:26

thanks where would i get a diaper belt from never heard of them

BabiesEverywhere · 27/01/2008 19:39

You can get them here called prefold belts.

But I think I will make my own with a piece of button elastic a button and a piece of fleece sewn into a tube and voila an adjustable diaper belt

hello - wow i am intrigued - anyway nice to see flamey has bundled you under her wing..... squares will dry quick as so flat anyway and bamboo squares would dry nice and quick too

FlameNFurter · 27/01/2008 20:18

I'll be good and not rush out to get a supply of bamboo squares just to nab you Nappyzone does them at £3.75 each.

I can flog ya the rest (and bung in an mn discount if you flutter eyelashes )

Newborn swaddlebees are £10.50 each

Wraps - I would say either a rikki wrap (£8.25) or a bambinex one (£7.50)

Going with newborns pooing after every feed - about 8 maybe if you are radiator drying them?

They don't take long to dry on a radiator, can take a while on an airer though.

I've had no problems drying on the radiator.

Thanks Flame

I'll contact Nappyzone about the bamboo squares later on. Just wanted an idea of prices for the time being
