Can't stop 15mo ds climbing, is letting him get on with it a viable option?

Can't stop ds climbing sofa, coffee table, chairs, etc,
He finds it a great game when I act stern and get him down (especially with 4yo dd laughing too), in the end I just took his socks off so he could climb more safely!
Can't remember if dd was quite this bad or not. What does anyone else do, apart from get rid of all furniture!

Let him hurt himself - he'll only do it once!

I made one room (relatively) safe and let ds climb. He gets up on top of the tv, and gets stuck on the windowsill occasionally, but the only time he hurt himself it was falling off the sofa! It didn't stop him, either.

Neither of my dds climbed like this. Maybe it is a boy thing.

No, not a boy thing (dd did/does it too) Just let them get on with it, they soon learn.

DD was like this, still is actually. She is always up trees.

Let him get on with it. Make things as safe as possible (window locks, attach bookcases and wardrobes to wall etc.)

And in about 2 years time, take him to a climbing wall.

dd1 was never like this
dd2 was AWFUL for climingfrom about 13 months
I tried to make things safe as I could in the frontroom and let her get on wtih it
dd3 is already climbing up onto chairs (little wooden childrens chairs), sofa, coffee table etc and she is 1 yr on the 7th of feb

Pick your battles wisely, or life will become one big one. If he's not in serious danger, then let him get on with it.

or if all else fails tie his feet together

(((joking)))

thanks guys, have been letting him get on with it, he's not hurt himself YET! Sometimes I just can't watch though!
