ADHD diagnosis Australia

My 13 year old son is a lovely boy in general but has had such a difficult time getting into a good routine for high school. I’ve tried helping him with a diary, I ask him most days what work he needs to do, I offer him help, but he still ends up with homework not completed and very low test scores. He is very capable and got into an acedemic pathway at the local high school. I have to shout to get him to do things after asking 5+ times. I have just started a full time job and I don’t have time for this. His behaviour isn’t out of control and it’s not obvious he has ADD or ADHD but I just feel like it isn’t just laziness, he is actually incapable of getting organised. He has no concept of getting things done during the week so he can do things on the weekend. I’m losing it with him out of frustration and I don’t want our relationship to be ruined. I have a referral from the GP for ADD assessment with a paediatrician but they all have their books closed and are not accepting new patients. We are in Perth. Does anyone have any experience with getting a diagnosis and starting meds in Australia? Or anywhere really. I felt so good if taken the first steps and now I feel so disheartened I can’t even get on a wait list 🙁

We had DH diagnosed earlier in the year and faced similar issues. I ended up calling a list of psychiatrists then asked the Gp to rewrite for that specific dr.
Of course DH then procrastinated and his books closed too.
We ended up going through a clinic that has an all in one type approach- GP's, psychiatrists, Physio's, dental etc all in one. The GP literally got up, walked over to the psych's door and requested an available appointment time.
I've also seen some of the parenting groups over here (aus) on Facebook have good advice about who has open books, what waitlist times are like etc.
