12 week old weight gain

My almost 12 week old ebf baby was on the 20th percentile for weight. Over the last few weeks she's slipped to the 15th. At one point she was gaining 200+g/week. Then from 8 weeks it slowed to 150g. Last week she gained 100g. She's grown 11cm in 2 months and is alert and very active (can stand if I hold her hands, supporting her own head).

My midwife thinks I shouldn't worry as their weight gain slows at some point but then it's supposed to be more like 17 weeks, not 8 weeks. If she keeps dropping 2 percentiles a week she'll be off the bottom of the chart soon and I don't want her to become unwell or for us to get pressure to formula feed. I've been trying to stuff as much milk in her as possible but often she cries if I try to get her to drink when she's full. Last night she screamed for 30 mins after I tried to swap her to the other side when she'd started to doze off. I've been trying breast compressions instead while she's drinking for a day or so.

I don't think my milk supply has dropped. I can pump 100+ml in about 5-10 mins. I've also weighed a few of her nappies and there's better 100ml & 160ml in them 2-3 times daily and at least 50ml another 2-3 times a day.

Has anyone else had a long, thin, active baby like this? Did they catch up at some point?

I would continue to monitor her weight, but don't try and overfeed her if she's full. Babies' appetites fluxuate and they're not going to gain the same amount every month.

My boy's weight was similar for the first 6 months, but once he was on solids it stabilized. He started on the 75th centile, dropped below the 50th in the first couple of months, but now is comfortably just above the 50th and staying there.

I asked a paed friend about this; birth weight is determined by nourishment that the baby receives in the uterus. Once born, genetics start to take over and that weight can change.

Thank you @ChildWontStopGrowing . My Oh & my family have a lot of tall, thin people so I did wonder if it's that. The womb environment Vs genetics point is interesting. I'm trying not to worry too much about it 😅
