Having a horrible morning!

DS (22 months) woke at 450, wouldn’t go back to sleep. By half seven he’d exhausted himself with books and CBeebies, and has been WHINGEING non stop. He’s clearly beside himself with exhaustion but will not sleep. I’ve tried a drive but no joy. Now sat in a lay-by with a screaming child.

He’s not normally like this, so could be teeth or similar (have given calpol in case) but I’ve heard wails so much I’m on the verge of screaming myself!

Oh dear. We had a night like this earlier in the week. Absolute hell. 💐
Does he still have an afternoon nap to look forward to? Can you get any sleep when he goes down?

Spicycurry · 13/10/2022 09:06

Yes, although I’ll have to keep an eye to make sure he doesn’t sleep all day!

I don’t know if something is wrong or if he is just very tired!

Poor you. And your poor baby too, being so exhausted and overwrought that he can't settle no matter what. Awful for all of you, I remember the feeling very well. Is there a drive through somewhere you can go to and get yourself a nice coffee or something? Has he had something to eat?

He’s had breakfast as normal but since then it’s non stop. It’s going on two hours now of constant whingeing and it’s so exhausting and stressful.

Ours had an upper respiratory infection and I think she was teething as well. Wouldn’t open her mouth for calpol. Are you past the point of sleep regressions at least?

PutYourShoesOnWereLate · 13/10/2022 09:16

Is there any possibility he could have sore ears? That was often the cause of DS screaming and not being able to sleep. Calpol wouldn't touch it.

Spicycurry · 13/10/2022 09:32

I know what you mean @PutYourShoesOnWereLate , I did wonder that as it’s happened to us before but has usually meant a disturbed night. He slept well but woke so early. He’s asleep now in the back of the car!

I don’t think there are many more sleep regressions! DS never really had any mind.

If it makes you feel better, get out the car and scream, no one will hear you and it will give some release. You wont be the first or the last to scream out your worries and frustrations. No advice op, but hopefully your little one gives into a nap soon and wakes refreshed x.

PutYourShoesOnWereLate · 13/10/2022 09:39

Oh thank goodness he's given in to sleep. Some deep cleansing breaths now and hopefully the rest of the day will go better.
