Mixing formula?

Does anyone know if you can mix formula I.e 3 scoops of one and 3 of another to make a 6oz bottle? Baby has reflux so tried the anti reflux milk which helped but is just a bit too thick for her, so was thinking could I use half this and half her original milk so it’s still thicker than normal but not too thick? Would this be ok?

I think it's fine to mix formulas but I would be concerned it would impact taste etc. Why not just use a bit more water to make the anti reflux milk a little bit thinner?

I wouldnt be keen myself to mix formula but my friend does. Not sure what guidelines say though

I used to do this, with no problem.

(Just in case, don't get offended if you already know this, cause I was silly..,,)

But you need to open up the teet a lot! Like cut a big hole. Otherwise it doesn't come out very well. DD1 cried and cried! And then I figured it out 🤦🏻‍♀️

Christ please don’t do this 😫 this is ridiculous advice!

you’re essentially watering the formula down which is dangerous! Not only would the baby get less nutrients but you’d also be messing with the electrolyte and mineral balances which is incredibly dangerous!

To be clear, I'm not talking about doubling the amount of water. But if it's a tiny bit too thick, adding an extra few millilitres of water is not a problem. Attempting to limit the amount your child feeds by, for example, using half the number of scoops for the recommended amount of water is a completely different thing.

Speak to your GP about whether it would be suitable to use Carobel for your baby. I'm sure it will be but reluctant to give medical advice to a stranger! Carobel is a thickening powder which you can buy OTC (or get on prescription). You make up your formula as normal and then add the powder so you can make sure it is the right thickness to help with reflux and in time you can gradually reduce the thickness as well.

Thanks :) may look at car over instead! To be clear I won’t be watering down formal and it would be same brand … Shes currently on cow and gate hungry baby so would use their anti reflux xx

My son had carobel and it helped a bit. I had to get variflow teats (x shaped hole) to make sure the milk actually cane out the bottle.
