It's half term soon and typically my DD and I have slightly different times off. I have sorted childcare for every day the second week but one. My DD is 12 year 8 at school and sensible for her age and has assured me she will be fine at home all day on her own. I would be out the house from 7.30 until 3.30 pm, could make her a packed lunch etc before I go and text her during the day. But she would be home alone. What would you do? I very unsure

I was left at home that age when needed.

Long as you trust her and she knows what to do in an emergency.

Could she have a friend over?

I think for me it would depend on how mature she was for her age, if you feel like she is capable and responsible enough to be left for the day then I would. Is there anyone who can pop in to check on her around lunchtime or could you nip home on your lunch break? As long as she can contact you in an emergency then I would leave her.

I was left at home by myself many times at that age, even overnight or the weekend, as long as she's responsible and has clear instructions of what to do in an emergency, she'll be fine.

Thank you. Yes she is very sensible and I have left her. For a few hours before just not a whole day.

No one can pop in to check on her but will see if she wants to have a friend round to keep her company
