my husband has 2 tickets for liverpool match today but no-one to go with. I'd love to go but our baby is only 10 weeks old - is it crazy to consider taking her?! Its at Anfield so will be noisy

They might not allow "babes in arms" for a start. You'd need to check. I'm sure I've seen on rugby tickets, that it's not allowed.

And tbh, I think a baby of ten weeks might be really upset by the noise. Plus, there's the crowds to take into consideration. You'd have to put her in a sling and maybe worry about people bashing into you.

I've been to rugby matches when pregnant, but a baby in belly is better protected than a baby out.

Your right - I know that really - I'll just stay at home and sulk instead! (or maybe go shopping)

I don't think it sounds a very good idea.
Not exactly the ideal environment to breast feed. Don't know if there will be any baby changing facilities either.

twelveyeargap · 26/01/2008 10:35

You could start a thread saying

"Does anyone want to go to Anfield with my DH?"

Sell the ticket (for face value of course), and use the money for your shopping.

posieflump · 26/01/2008 10:36

what tiem does it start by the way (dh is asking cos he wants to watch it, is it on BBC?)

Nemoandthefishes · 26/01/2008 10:38

it doesn't look like that match is on TV, just Mnasfield v Middlesborough and the Chelsea one at 5pm

Hey - I took my 3 month old DD to 2 sellout rugby (wallabies) matches in France as part of the World Cup. She loved them. I had her in my hug-a-bub sling, didn't have a ticket for her and they just let us through. She loved it Breastfed her no problem. The stadiums were fairly open so the sound was diffused. You can always wrap her head so her ears are covered which muffles alot of noise.

i took my 4-month old to a match. she sat on my knee for part of the game, and was in a sling for the rest of it. she was very interested in everything going on around her.

also breastfed her half-way through - no-one noticed at all (everyone is watching the pitch!). i had to stand off to one side (out of the way) for a while to settle her when she got a bit tired, but she wasn't bothered by the noise at all and even had a nap.

guess it depends on the baby - dd2 is fine with loud noises, but dd1 would have been very upset. she still hates noise now at 3.10...

mine always screamed when someone scores and goal and everyone shouts

and that's just in our lounge

posieflump · 26/01/2008 11:46

how do you guage that a 3 month old is enjoying the rugby... lol

cinnamontam · 26/01/2008 11:49

good point PF. She was grinning and waving her arms about and yelling at the ref with me. Check out my pics. The top one shows you how much she was enjoying it
