NO

whatarelief · 29/11/2004 16:07

No.
Why would you want to encourage her to get into a habit of doing that? Or to think it's OK?

Why don't you say there are germs there so don't touch? And distract, distract, distract.....

zephyrcat · 29/11/2004 16:10

it's not that i want to encourage her to do it but i also dont want her to grow up thinking that bodies are wrong if that makes sense? She's just curios at the moment because its different to her. I have been saying no to her but just wondered if i was being ott .....

I wouldn't say there are germs there! Just say no, they are his private bits.

fairyfly · 29/11/2004 16:13

id say you can wipe him for me if you want and help mummy, i wouldn't make a fuss at all

zephyrcat · 29/11/2004 16:16

thats what she usually does - helps me change him or sometimes she'll just poke him then run away laughing - thats all i meant, she doesnt literally touch him!!!!
I just wasnt sure if i should be saying 'no' when she says it

no, FF is right, don't make a big deal out of it or she might end up with a penis phobia

SantaFio2 · 29/11/2004 16:19

i wish i had a penis phobia

Thomcat · 29/11/2004 16:19

Agree with FF and SM. Think the 'well you can help mummy clean him' and then distract route is a good one.

spacemonkey · 29/11/2004 16:19

snort fio

CarrieG · 29/11/2004 16:21

...you could use it to casually drop in the point that it's OK to clean ds's bits for him because he's only a baby & can't do it himself, but that we leave other people's 'private bits' alone on the whole...& importance of hygiene, hand washing etc?

fairyfly · 29/11/2004 16:26

i doubt my son would want to touch a willy now, it just comes with age, my brother does though

SantaFio2 · 29/11/2004 16:28

their own i take it FF?

my boys are the same, cant leave them be

zephyrcat · 29/11/2004 16:56

thanks all
I dont think boys ever leave it alone do they? I once told dp to leave it alone and he told me i had 'penis envy' !!!! I think not!

I think it would be great fun to have a penis for a week.

whatarelief · 29/11/2004 16:58

me too spacemonkey. usually when I say that to other people they think I'm completely barking. I'd like to know what all the fuss is about......and how much does it actually hurt when someone kicks you down there? on a par with labour? I think not....

I have said to DS that the area covered by his pants/swimming trunks is private and other people shouldn't touch him there

but

he does not have a sibling so don't have any advice to give sorry.

amynnixmum · 29/11/2004 17:14

I think that the cleaning thing is a good idea and definately not to make a big deal out of it. It is only natural for her to be interested. My dad was the only male in our house and I was fascinated by his penis as a child. He just used to answer my questions and then distract me with something more interesting. Spacemonkey, a penis would be great but only when you need a pee outside - ill trust them on the pain thing.

spacemonkey · 29/11/2004 17:15

mm I can think of more interesting things I'd like to do with my penis than find out about the pain thing
