DS had a bad cold & cough at the end of last week but by the end of the weekend was pretty much over it. He’s still got a bit of a runny nose but nothing major. Monday morning he had a really sloppy dirty nappy which isn’t like him. Since then he’s been doing about 4 big sloppy dirty nappies each day. Very smelly and he has lots of smelly gas too (he is usually a gassy child - just not smelly!). A few times he has passed a small amount of poo while passing gas too.

Absolutely fine in himself, eating and drinking as normal. No known allergies/intolerances.

I asked the pharmacist for advice and they said they can’t give advice as he’s under 2 🤔 (he’s 23 months). Have filled in an online form for the GP just to ask advice but it says to expect contact back on Monday.

At what point should I be concerned and getting a sample in to the GP?

Anyone? I know it’s not a medical forum - just hoping for others experiences!

Likely Just a bug. If it continues for 10 days + go to GP

@lovelilies Thank you. I figured as he’s eating and drinking fine that was hopefully a good sign. Hopefully will clear up soon!

Do you have anxiety around health? There will be a lot more things like this.

lovelilies · 05/10/2022 18:48

Main thing is if the child is eating and drinking, playing, sleeping, chances are they're fine 😊

Sofachoices · 05/10/2022 23:15

@AriettyHomily Thanks for your helpful message 😊 I didn’t realise that asking for one piece of advice when you’re unsure on something was enough to be classed as having “anxiety” over it 🤣

@lovelilies Thank you 😊 just as I closed my eyes he woke up and vomited all over his bed so I definitely think it might be a bug 😬

Oh no 🙈 why do they do it on your bed? Hope you got some sleep. I found when any of mine had a bug sleep on a towel, then you can just Chuck it in the bath, quick rinse of chunks 🤢 and put another under them so you're not faffing with bedding all night...

jennyofthenorth · 06/10/2022 02:39

If you buy a couple of waterproof sheets and layer a regular sheet over it, then another waterproof with a sheet, you can just wisk one set off and start agian

Sofachoices · 06/10/2022 05:32

@lovelilies @jennyofthenorth It was his own bed thankfully so the waterproof mattress protector was on 🙈 been sick another twice and completely refused to lie back down on a bed 😬 so it’s been a night of me watching tv on the sofa holding him while he sleeps 😬
Typically it’s meant to be my first day back at work after 10 days off so I’m sure my absence will go down like a lead balloon 😬

Oh no. Isn't there a line else who's watch him for you?

Unfortunately not @lovelilies - DH works away from home for weeks at a time and is away currently and obviously childcare isn’t an option. No other friends or family available to help.
He’s seeing the doctor in a wee while. No wet nappies this morning so they want him checked over.

If he still has a snotty nose, he'll be swallowing a lot of it and that could upset his stomach as well! This happens every time my daughter gets a cold

PinkButtercups · 06/10/2022 11:23

My DS had something like this after a stomach bug. They said give it two weeks. They sent a sample off anyway.
