What age did your DC stop using a buggy / how to transport a 3 year old

DS is 3.5. We've tried scooter and buggy board, he's not interested. His nursery is a bit too far for him to walk, especially in the mornings when we're always in a rush.

We've also got a DD who's nearly 1, so I stack them up in the double buggy, but it weighs a ton with them both in and I worry about it breaking or collapsing. Can also put them in the car but the parking situation isn't always great round here and DH doesn't have a licence.

How do other people transport their children?!

Does he just point blank refuse to go on the board and tantrum or what exactly? We had DC2 when DC1 was 3 and a quarter, and DC1 was lazy and not a great walker, and I don't drive and often walked to places up to 30 mins or so walk with her, so she couldn't walk anywhere near that time. So we got a buggy board, she walked when she fancied (not much initially!!) and was on the bosrd rest of time. We gradually stretched her walking, she's 4 and a quarter now and thankfully much better walker and we rarely use the buggy board these days.

Walk. Dc1 was doing the mile and a half trip to preschool at 2, used to take around 45 minutes to an hour. Dc2 was mostly sling and then walking too. Both hated the buggy by 18 months. Dc2 is 4 now and she can walk home from preschool in half an hour, faster if we jog part of it (still a mile and an half). I've always had to tell stories, pretend to be the Big Bad Wolf or Baba Yaga chasing after them though.

@NannyR I'm rubbish with distances but it's about 15-20 mins brisk walk for me, but they're busy roads. We're usually running late in the morning but I suppose the solution to that is to get up earlier!

@SecondhandTable point blank refuses or gets on and then jumps straight off when buggy is moving. Having said that, I haven't tried it for a while and just lately he's started wanting to push the buggy when he is walking, so maybe he'd be more interested in the board now too

The balance bike was £7 on Facebook marketplace four years ago, it had done hundreds of miles since then for several children. But otherwise, stack up the buggy.

2 unless it was an all day thing like a festival or an agri show. Mine are a bit wild. They never walk just run. What about a bike?

I got rid of my twins' double buggy before the turned 3, having slowly built their stamina up (their nursery of the time was at the bottom of a long, steep hill, so the journey home was hard going for them!).
There was no way I was having them in a buggy any longer than they needed to be.
